چکیده

The nucleating role of cellular membrane components, such as lipid moieties on amyloid beta (A?1–40) fibrillation, has been reported in recent years. influence conjugates fabricated from anchors (cholesterol, diacylglycerol) and hydrophilic polymers A?1–40 fibrillation is here, aiming to understand the impact cloud point temperature (Tcp) its hydrophobic tails fibrillation. Novel lipid-polymer conjugates, consisting poly(oligo(ethylene glycol)macrylates) groups (diacylglyceryl-, cholesteryl-, octyl-, decyl-, hexadecyl-) are synthesized using reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization, allowing tune hydrophilic-hydrophobic profile by varying both, degree polymerization (n) number ethylene glycol units (m) their side chain. these investigated via vitro kinetic studies transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Hydrophobic lipid-anchors significantly delaying (both lag- half times), observing similar fibrillar structures TEM when compared native A?1–40. Other end also A?1–40, irrespective “n” “m,” whereas more with longer glycol-sidechains, m = 3 for octyl, decyl 5 cholesterol) only marginally inhibited

Coiling instability of multilamellar membrane tubes with anchored polymers.

We study experimentally a coiling instability of cylindrical multilamellar stacks of phospholipid membranes, induced by polymers with hydrophobic anchors grafted along their hydrophilic backbone. Our system is unique in that coils form in the absence of both twist and adhesion. We interpret our experimental results in terms of a model in which local membrane curvature and polymer concentration ...

Coiling of Cylindrical Membrane Stacks with Anchored Polymers

We study experimentally a coiling instability of cylindrical multilamellar stacks of phospholipid membranes, induced by polymers with hydrophobic anchors grafted along their hydrophilic backbone. We interpret our experimental results in terms of a model in which local membrane curvature and polymer concentration are coupled. The model predicts the occurrence of maximally tight coils above a thr...

Anchored phosphatases modulate glucose homeostasis

Endocrine release of insulin principally controls glucose homeostasis. Nutrient-induced exocytosis of insulin granules from pancreatic β-cells involves ion channels and mobilization of Ca(2+) and cyclic AMP (cAMP) signalling pathways. Whole-animal physiology, islet studies and live-β-cell imaging approaches reveal that ablation of the kinase/phosphatase anchoring protein AKAP150 impairs insulin...

A combinatorial approach to surface anchored polymers

Recent advances in the field of self-assembly have led to the development of a plethora of new technologies derived from soft lithography that enable alternative ways of fabricating thin films with twoand three-dimensional patterns on material surfaces. Techniques involving the patterning of thicker polymer layers grafted to the substrate have been developed, based on selectively decorating the...

Probing Collective Motions of Terminally Anchored Polymers

Polymer chains attached by one end to an impenetrable surface at high coverage exemplify a tethered layer of mesoscopic dimensions. At equilibrium, thermal fluctuations of the segment density profile of the brushlike layer reflect the tethered chain dynamics; the probing of these fluctuations by evanescent-wave dynamic light scattering is reported. By utilizing a set of terminally attached laye...
